Moʻo ʻĀina Session 1

Moʻo ʻĀina will introduce keiki to the moʻolelo of the ʻāina and help them begin forming a connection to place. 9:00am-1:00pm 3rd-5th graders $80 1 snack provided per day must bring home lunch *The last day of program is an ʻOhana Day. ʻOhana are invited to participate in an activity with keiki at 12:00pm. Moʻo ʻĀina are the stories that are held within the land, the lineage of that which feeds us, mind, body and spirit. Our ʻāina carries a rich history and holds the knowledge of our ancestors deep beneath the surface of the ground that we walk upon today. Each mountain and valley, each ridge and high peak has a story to tell. The gentle breeze, the misty rain, or the sound of the rippling stream all carry the stories of this land. For generations, these stories were passed down through oral tradition. Some of these stories continue to be shared in both an oral tradition and newer compositions that have been created to depict the time of our ancestors in a more contemporary manner to reach keiki with varying knowledge of Hawaiian culture and practices. Haumana will be immersed in the moʻolelo of the ʻāina and activities that connect to the moʻolelo. Keiki will learn to kilo the spaces within our ʻāina and experience the beauty of Waipao through hands-on activities and exploration.
