ʻĀina Explorers (3-5 years old)

ʻĀina Explorers provides young keiki (older 3–5 year olds) and their makua with opportunities to explore Waipao through play, sensory experiences, movement, observation, and simple ʻIke Hawaiʻi practices. Designed to support early childhood development, the program focuses on language development, curiosity, simple cause-and-effect, and hands-on learning. Each session centers around one simple question and one meaningful exploration, helping keiki build a relationship and pilina with ʻāina while empowering makua with simple, engaging ways to continue the learning and ʻike at home. *Keiki must be able to walk independently for an extended period of time. We will be doing a bit of “hiking” and walking through the stream. This program is geared towards active, outdoor learners who are willing to “huli ka lima i lalo” (turn the hands down towards the ʻaina). Through the practice of mālama ʻāina (caring for the land) learners will gain foundational knowledge and skills that will enhance their physical, cognitive, language and social-emotional development.
